We're excited to share that Miriam is coming to WoolWinders Yarn Shop for a fabulous weekend, October 3 & 4! This is a great opportunity to learn color work, perfect the hems of your knitted garments or master triangular shawls.

Miriam will teach 3 amazing classes:

1. Chromaticity Cowl; Saturday, October 3 from 10 AM - 3 PM; $70

Look at the gorgeous colors in this cowl! Learn provisional cast on, joining the contrasting facing and tips for colorwork (like how to keep good tension, and catching your floats). This is a great cowl for you or for a holiday gift for someone special.

2. On the Edge, An Exploration of Hem Treatments from the Bottom Up; Sunday, October 4 from 9 AM - noon; $55

The way a hem is worked can make or break the garment. Hems provide structure, keep the fabric from curling, and provide a visual edge to the fabric. In this class we’ll explore different hems, both functional and decorative. Ribbing in all its forms, tubular and i-cord cast-ons, and Miriam’s very favorite because they are so versatile: Facings!

3. Just 3 Sides, Demystifying Triangular Shawl Shapes; Sunday, October 4 from 1 - 4 PM; $55

We all love triangular shawls - they keep us warm on cool summer evenings and are gorgeous accessories all year round. How many ways can you make a triangle? The triangular shawl is a fun and easy to wear garment, and a staple of accessory knitting. In this class we will explore triangular shawl shapes by working mini 5 mini shawls, covering wingspan down, point up, top down, long angled edge to top, and side to side. We’ll learn how increase and decrease placement build the structural lines, talk about how stitch patterns behave in each of the shapes and emphasize the pros & cons of each one.
