Description:  In this class, students will make a warm cabled headband.  They will earn how to read a simple cable chart and to make two simple cables.

Instructor:  Susan Allaway

Techniques/Skills Learned:  Basic cable chart reading and how to knit simple cables.

Skill Level:  Intermediate - Beginner level skills PLUS increase, decrease, and follow simple patterns.

Materials Needed for Class: 

Nakiska (free Ravelry download).

150 yards of any worsted weight yarn (Note: Smoother yarns will work better to facilitate executing the cable stitches).   

Needles: 16" size US 5 circular needle or double pointed needles (student’s choice).

Stitch markers.

Cable needle.

Homework:

Print pattern and wind your Woolwinders yarn.

Cast on 90 stitches (to make adult small) or 105 stitches (to make adult medium/large), place a marker at the beginning of the round, join the knitting and knit three rounds of seed stitch.

Additional Notes:  If a student chooses to make a size smaller than adult sizes, they will have to use double pointed needles.
