MITTEN MADNESS IS FILLED!

For Sunday, November 1. We have a pretty extensive waitlist, so hold off on calling regarding November 8 until we post next week. For those of you lucky enough to get in, you will need about 100 grams of WORSTED WEIGHT WOOL and size 6 or 7 dpns. Please wind your yarn prior to the class, ok?

ACCESSORIZE AT WOOLWINDERS

We rarely meet with vendors this time of year, but just couldn’t pass up the SHAWL PINS and BUTTONS offered by SOUTH BEACH ACCESSORIES. Michael swung by yesterday and ended up staying a few hours as we oohed and aahed over his collection. His SHAWL PINS were delicate wires in various colors and shapes:

While his buttons ranged from the funky to the dramatic. He even gave us a great way to display them-in plastic wine and champagne glasses. We should have everything set up today. And what great timing. We hear that some of the places we used to send customers for buttons have greatly reduced their selections. So now there is NO NEED TO GO ELSEWHERE!! Bring your projects in and we will find the perfect accessory to complete the look.

BACK TO BUSINESS

OK, we have all recovered from our 15 minutes of fame! The phone hasn’t stopped ringing over the past few days with folks wanting knitting lessons—so we are going to take a look at schedules and see what additional classes we can arrange. We’ll post the info here.

In the meantime, if you want to try this on your own (with our help, of course) check out the book of the week. We worship at the shrine of SALLY MELVILLE, and her book THE KNIT STITCH is a must-have for all levels of knitters. Every pattern, including the EINSTEIN COAT, is all knit, no purling required. And Sally is an incredible teacher and writer, so her instructions are clear and concise. If you want to try learning on your own, from the cast on to the bind off, we can’t recommend this book highly enough. There are some great scarves and hats that are easy and quick. We’ll help you with the yarn selections and give you lots of support and advice:

And join us this weekend for the last session of our SATURDAY VEST KAL. On SUNDAY, we begin MITTEN MADNESS from 2-4 PM. Please call before attending on Sunday—we only had a few spaces left on Tuesday. If we are full, we will let you know about upcoming sessions. As always, the program is FREE OF CHARGE and we have lots of great mitten yarn at the shop!
