ACCESSORIZE AT WOOLWINDERS
We rarely meet with vendors this time of year, but just couldn’t pass up the SHAWL PINS and BUTTONS offered by SOUTH BEACH ACCESSORIES. Michael swung by yesterday and ended up staying a few hours as we oohed and aahed over his collection. His SHAWL PINS were delicate wires in various colors and shapes:
While his buttons ranged from the funky to the dramatic. He even gave us a great way to display them-in plastic wine and champagne glasses. We should have everything set up today. And what great timing. We hear that some of the places we used to send customers for buttons have greatly reduced their selections. So now there is NO NEED TO GO ELSEWHERE!! Bring your projects in and we will find the perfect accessory to complete the look.

BACK TO BUSINESS
OK, we have all recovered from our 15 minutes of fame! The phone hasn’t stopped ringing over the past few days with folks wanting knitting lessons—so we are going to take a look at schedules and see what additional classes we can arrange. We’ll post the info here.
In the meantime, if you want to try this on your own (with our help, of course) check out the book of the week. We worship at the shrine of SALLY MELVILLE, and her book THE KNIT STITCH is a must-have for all levels of knitters. Every pattern, including the EINSTEIN COAT, is all knit, no purling required. And Sally is an incredible teacher and writer, so her instructions are clear and concise. If you want to try learning on your own, from the cast on to the bind off, we can’t recommend this book highly enough. There are some great scarves and hats that are easy and quick. We’ll help you with the yarn selections and give you lots of support and advice:
And join us this weekend for the last session of our SATURDAY VEST KAL. On SUNDAY, we begin MITTEN MADNESS from 2-4 PM. Please call before attending on Sunday—we only had a few spaces left on Tuesday. If we are full, we will let you know about upcoming sessions. As always, the program is FREE OF CHARGE and we have lots of great mitten yarn at the shop!

IT'S THURSDAY!
And this week’s book is truly special. And through www.amazon, at a truly special price:
We got a call from the publisher a while back offering us this book but we turned it down. Why? Because the price we were offered didn’t compare to amazon’s. So it’s our pleasure to bring this treasure to our customers at a great buy. ALICE STARMORE is, after all, the queen of FAIR ISLE KNITTING (our very own PAIGE is, of course, the princess). Her book has been out of print for quite a while. So have at it!
As for this weekend, we continue our KAL on Saturday from 2-4 PM. We offer LEARN TO CROCHET from noon-1—please call if you want to sign up for this class for just $10!!! Our beginning crochet and knitting classes have taken off this fall thanks to the new price structure.
And please remember we will be CLOSED SUNDAY for a special program. Learn to knit will resume MONDAY NIGHT from 6:30-7:30 and SUNDAY, OCTOBER 25 from 12-1.

WATCH THIS SPACE....
For many new arrivals. We spent much of yesterday going over re-orders and should have plenty of new beauties in time for holiday gift making/giving. Already in? Some gorgeous TWINKLE YARN from Shelby. Sockweight and just gorgeous. One skein makes socks or a scarf-two for a shawl. And in the unque colorways that only Shelby can do. We are very proud to be Shelby’s only local distributor. And we’ve already received emails from other companies that have shipped. Should be a busy few weeks.
And to thank you for a great sale, we are keeping the following on 40% discount: COLINETTE, MOUNTAIN COLORS, TWISTED SISTERS, and LANTERN MOON NEEDLES. If you are doing any felting, check out the TWISTED SISTERS wool yarn. It’s fabulous.

IT'S A SPECIAL THURSDAY
Why special? We will get to that in a bit. First, our weekly tradition of BOOK OF THE WEEK:
We love this book; the author/designer LINDA MORSE runs the amazing STRIING shop in NY (and now CT). Linda’s shop is always on our “must see” list when we go to Manhattan; and her book is no less impressive. We have lots of luxury yarn for these elegant projects.
And guess what? You can get these yarns for 15-50% OFF!!!! Our annual ANNIVERSARY SALE starts tomorrow and runs through Monday, but what the hell, you can shop today, since we’ve labelled all the bins and white board. Everything in the shop is 15-50 % off!!! Of course that excludes lessons, classes, and finishing; and it does mean all sales are final, and the sale IS on exisiting inventory only, but it’s still a great sale. We have been in business SEVEN YEARS, thanks to all of you. And of course, the sale includes our famous DRAWING FOR 15% off FOR ONE FULL YEAR. So come on in and shop with us for some great bargains.

LEARN TO CABLE FOR FREE!
We just got an email from a local shop that is offering a class to teach cables. The class costs $45. Well, guess what? Our SUNDAY IN THE SALON this week features a CHUNKY CABLE SCARF. And it’s FREE of CHARGE. Cabling is WAY easier than you think; we teach a variation on this class each season and it’s always a hit. This fall, we feature a gorgeous cable scarf made from WORSTED WEIGHT WOOL (we did it in alpaca for a yummy feel) and the cable is really GINORMOUS, so it’s even easier. You will need about 600 yards of yarn (we have lots of choices) and size 8 or 9 needles. And of course, a cable hook.
So just think about it. You’ll have extra money to spend on yarn if you learn to cable for free. Just give us a call to sign up for the class this SUNDAY. It’s from 2-4 PM and there is space for just 12 lucky folks!

BOOK OF THE WEEK
We’ve noticed a marked increase in the number of customers who come in wanting to get started on holiday gifts. So we’re here to help. Our book of the week through www.amazon.com solves part of the issue:
And for the other part, consider joining in our SATURDAY KALS and our SUNDAYS IN THE SALON. Each fall, we emphasize holiday gifts. This weekend is no exception. On SATURDAY we begin the fabulous circular shawl from this past summer’s VOGUE KNITTING. Scroll down to see more details. And on Sunday, we are doing a beautiful CABLED HEADBAND made from SCHAEFER YARN MISS PRISS. Later in the fall we will be doing matching mittens. Want to learn to cable? This is a great project to start! As always, the programs are free; just give us a call to save a spot at the table for you. You will need one skein of Miss Priss and size 7 dpns or circs to do the headband.
