NEW KOIGU IS HERE--OUR EMAIL ISN'T!

Good news/bad news day. First the good. The new shipment of KOIGU has arrived--plenty of yummy colors in the ever popular KPPM! Whether you want to make the TRES JOLIE SHAWL, CHARLOTTE'S WEB, SOCKS or GLOVES you will love this yarn!

And the bad news. We learned this morning that our emails have been "stuck" in our system for the past NINE DAYS! So if you sent us something and didn't hear back, don't think badly of us! We thought the responses had gone out. Something has, in technical terms, gone "gaflooey" with our system. And we are working on it. Thanks for your patience!

SUNDAY IN THE SALON

Join us this Sunday from 2-4 as we knit the ultimate hostess gift--the WINE WRAP. We've made a ton of these and they are always a huge hit! One skein of superbulky yarn (POINT FIVE or BIG WOOL works well) and size 11 and 8 DPNs. The finished product is quick and adorable--kind of a "wine bottle dress." Really. You will make an entrance with these, and no need to stop at the last minute to buy a bag for that much-appreciated wine.

As always, the program is free of charge and will run from 2-4 PM. Don't know how to use double pointed needles? We'll show you!

ARTYARNS SILK RHAPSODY

We were delighted at the response our SILK RHAPSODY jacket received-thanks to all who admired it, tried it on, and then bought yarn to create it! We now have in stock the colorway in which it was knit-a beautiful brown/grey/tan with gold metallic. This is the perfect yarn for a dressy holiday jacket! And the pattern, a LILY CHIN design, is unbelievably easy and quick. Don't want dressy? The jacket can be made in anything from alpaca to MANOS to NORO. We will help you pick out the perfect yarn and give you the pattern as well!

Our WINTER NEWSLETTER is in the works-make sure you get a copy of your own. Simply go to the bottom left of this home page, and fill out your email address. You will be taken to a screen that asks you for your email address again and your zip code; once you have filled that out you will receive a confirmation email back to make sure you really want to be on our list. Don't miss a newsletter, monthly event schedules, sale notices...we do EVERYTHING via email!

REGIA SOCK YARN BACK IN WOOLWINDERS!

Yes, we know that many of you LOVED REGIA SOCK YARN and were disappointed when we stopped carrying it due to distribution issues. We were delighted when WESTMINSTER FIBERS, our ROWAN pals, took over. So come on out to the shop for some great sock yarn! We focused on "manly" and neutral colors, to contrast with our hand dyed beauties. And Marietta, our Socks on Circs teacher, swears by this yarn and picked the colors personally!

Also in, the "we can't keep it in stock and the patterns are kickin'" SIMPLE STYLE from Manos Del Uruguay.

CALLING OUR CROCHETERS

We know that we emphasize knitting at WoolWinders, but occasionally we come across a book of crochet designs that we just can't resist. Check out AMAZING CROCHET LACE. If we could crochet with any level of expertise, we would make every design in this gorgeous book!

Also in, reorders of the variegatied MANOS colors we had sold out. Still one of our favorite yarns in the shop, and we have had it here since the day we opened.

Finally, all our teachers met on Sunday morning to work out the new winter class schedule which will begin the first week of JANUARY, 2007. We will have copies in the shop by FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 24 and it will be up on the website next week.

A KNITTER'S YARN

We fell in love with PATRICIA ROBERTS LAMBSWOOL on our trip to London a few years ago, and were delighted when she agreed to add WoolWinders to the very small list of stores that stocks this fantastic yarn. This is truly a knitter's yarn. Pure lambswool makes it soft to the hand yet possessed of tremendous memory that allows for any garment to have both body and drape. The yarn is a pure DK weight and Patricia's color palette is extraordinary. We are talking clarity of color that we just don't see anywhere else. How much do we love this yarn? Well, even though we are "selling down" our inventory this time of year, we just ordered more! Come check out the glorious colors: HOT PINK, TANGERINE, OLIVE, CREAM, and LIPSTICK. Ask to see our FIONA ELLIS design that we are knitting in the most gorgeous yellow we have ever seen! We now have SIXTEEN colors in stock, so grab that DK sweater pattern you have always wanted to make, and treat yourself to something special.

SUNDAY IN THE SALON/RECENT ACQUISITIONS

We had a (quiet) ball last Sunday making our FELTED CLOGS. Not much talking, lots of silent counting, some wine drinking, and many gorgeous soles created! If you missed the first session of three, don't be shy! Come out this Sunday from 2-4 and we will get you started! Bring your size 11 or 13 24" circular needles, and we will steer you to some beautiful felting yarn for this project. CLOGS are easy and a lot of fun--a great first felting project!

As always, the program is free of charge and will run from 2-4 PM.

Just in thanks to our lovely UPS Driver, Javier, restocks of the fabulous GALLER PERUVIAN TWEED. Six hundred yarns of yummy pure alpaca--two skeins make a sweater or a shawl (holding the yarn double), one makes a gorgeous hat/mitten/scarf combo or lightweight shawl. This yarn lasted about two weeks on the shelf, so hurry in! And you can even wind it on your very own swift/ball winder. We now have those in stock as well. Finally, our shipment of CRYSTAL PALACE NEEDLES arrived! Plenty of dpns and short straights. Perfect for those upcoming car projects.

GOT CLOGS?

Just in time for for the chill in the air...warm up those tootsies with FELTED CLOGS. These are among our favorite things ever knit. Why? Because they are easy, they cause you to drift into a very zen-like state with all the counting of stitches, and the final product is FABULOUS!!! We have had ours for four years and put them on first thing in the morning and as soon as we get home in these chilly evenings!

What will you need? Double strands of feltable worsted weight yarn (think KUREYON) or single strand chunky (CASCADE 109 or MANOS) and 24" circs size 11 or 13.

Come join us this SUNDAY IN THE SALON from 2-4 PM as we begin our clogs--we will continue them for the next two Sundays. And maybe we'll bring some Sonoma Pinot to share!

TAMMY AND TORRE VISIT THE SHOP

Our friends Tammy and Torre stopped by yesterday on their way home from the Kaffe Fassett program at Stitches East, and were nice enough to forward this picture of the baby set they made from our yarns. Beautiful, don't you think? We love when our customers "show and share."

AN EVENING WITH FIONA

We had a ball last night with FIONA ELLIS, author of Inspired Cable Knits. We learned how TRIMS and EDGES can embellish any project with color or detail::

fionaellisww3.jpg
Fiona was most gracious with her time, thoughts, and tips. We learned never to fear running short of yarn, and that there is no such thing as a mistake in fiber arts--only the opportunity to create a new design feature.

FIONA ELLIS AT WOOLWINDERS

We are so excited to welcome FIONA ELLIS tonight! Her most recent book, Inspired Cable Knits, blew out of here, and she is kind enough to stop here before the onslaught of Stitches East this weekend. The class tonight, TRIMS and EDGES is filled. If you are participating, we hope that you got our email and phone messages about materials. To be on the safe side, we will repeat it here. Please bring a 4" swatch of a simple stitch pattern, two balls of scrap yarn of different colors, and needles to work on the yarn. We will see you tonight 6-9 PM.
